On the 7th March, 2018, the largest and most significant buildings in all of Latvia, Lithuania and Sweden were awarded at the “Latvian Construction Awards 2017” ceremony at the VEF Culture Palace. Prizes were awarded in ten nominations.
“CTB” Ltd. office building on Cukura Street 38A, Liepaja was recognized as the best public building and obtained the 1st prize in the nomination “NEW BUILDING – PUBLIC BUILDING”. The contractor for the construction of the “CTB” office building is owner of “CTB” Ltd. Gatis Zvirbulis, designed by Andris Kokins, architect of the “K IDEA”, and the project was implemented by “Selva būve” Ltd.
Liepaja State 1st Gymnasium Building is recognized as the most successful reconstruction of facades at the closing ceremony of the “Latvian Construction Awards 2017” The Grand Prix was awarded to the reconstructed VEF Cultural Palace and the renovated hotel building of Grand Hotel Kempinski Riga in the historic centre of the city.
The best residential building in 2017 was built in Riga, Citadele Street, “Kern residences”.
The first place in the nomination “Plant” has acquired a bulk cargo temporary storage terminal at the Freeport of Riga, but the “Peldmāja” in Pavilosta has been recognized as the best wooden building. The first place in the “Civil Engineering building – new building” nomination was awarded to a new bridge in Augšlīgatne, but the reconstruction of the best engineering structure was carried out at the Vilnius airport, where construction works was performed by builders from Latvia
The Riga St. Jacob’s Cathedral received the nomination “Restoration”, but the best reconstruction took place at the sports school in Kuldiga, where a new swimming pool was built within the framework of the project.
The first place in the public outdoor space nomination was awarded to the largest physical activity area in the Baltics, “Centra sporta kvartāls”, in Krisjana Barona Street, Riga. A special prize for the promotion of patriotic feelings was granted to the monumental flag of Latvia in the AB dambis.
In turn, winners of the “Civil Engineer of the Year in Latvia 2017” are the best construction project manager Dzintars Blumbers (“A.C.B.”), the best designer of the year, Gatis Vilks (“BICP”), the best new engineer Aleksejs Tokarevs (“Velve”) and the best construction manager in Latvia Ansis Vorms (“Norma-S”).
The “Latvian Construction Year Award 2017” and “Civil Engineer of the Year in Latvia 2017” were attended by representatives of state institutions and local authorities, diplomats, business executives, civil engineers, architects, developers of real estate projects.
